Amelia brought mommy presents in bed.

Daddy made heart shaped pancakes.

Amelia helped eat them.

Mommy tried a beret on Amelia…it’s a little too big.

It was a great day with my little munchkin.

We went into DC today to attend a friend’s rooftop birthday party. Amelia liked the hustle and bustle of Dupont Circle. We passed lots of fun things happening around the city today like graduation at American University, and the EU Embassy Open House. It reminded us of the days when we had more time to explore the city!

I heard the sound of the highway tonight and was inspired to write this poem. Wishing my mother’s mother a very Happy Mother’s Day wherever she is looking down on us…hoping that many of her amazing traits will carry-on even in my daughter.

At Go-Go’s                 

To the whirring sound of trucks passing on the highway

I am trying to fall asleep, lying on the firm twin bed

I cannot roll over for fear of hearing “Shh” from my sister nearby

I study the reflection of the painted ballerinas above the beds in the dresser mirror

I catch a glimpse of the bathroom and squint to see the shiny silver seashell wallpaper

I touch the button on the throw pillow and pull the thin blue comforter closer

I wonder when sleep will take me so I can wake to my favorite scrambled eggs

And give my grandmother a hug

We went to Rehoboth, Delaware for the weekend with some of our friends. The weather was colder than we hoped but we still had a great time.

We had a lot of fun with boxes and an inflatable bathtub.

Feeding was always an adventure.

Paul’s friend Ryan came to visit with his new girlfriend.

Before the weekend was over our little one was crawling! (We think it was all of the carpet in the condo)…we better get to baby-proofing our house!

We took a weekend trip and spent a few hours in the car each way. We timed it right and got her to sleep most of the way. Who can resist a sleeping baby? I was mesmerized by her cute baby details (as usual).

We visited with our friend Owen this evening. It is fun to see how much they’ve grown already.

We always have fun getting together with the baby group. All the babies are getting so busy! Unfortunately Amelia had a little melt down for the group photo- it was a little overwhelming.

We found out that a Pampers box is the perfect place for Amelia to practice sitting!

Daddy fits in there with her too.

We have not figured out where to install a baby swing in our yard, but we realized there are two perfect hooks already installed in our porch ceiling (thanks for the swing Grandma and Grandpa). Yay indoor swinging!
